Room to Read seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in low-income communities by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Working in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments, we develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children, and support girls to complete secondary school with the relevant life skills to succeed in school and beyond.

Kiran and her family also participate in Swim Across America Inc., which is a nonprofit dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention, and treatment. It does so by hosting charity swims and donating the proceeds to a hospital. Since its founding, SAA has granted $75 million to fund cancer research and clinical trials

Nepalese American Foundation

Kiran is also a Board member of the non-profit Nepalese American Foundation (NAF) which has helped raise money for earthquake relief in Kathmandu, and also provides scholarships for young Nepali-American women.

For 20 years, ICMEC has been a leader in identifying gaps in the global community’s ability to protect children from abduction, sexual abuse and exploitation, and expertly assembling the people, resources and tools needed to fill those gaps.
